The Universe explained to children

embossed prints, 1,5x2mt, 2012

“The Universe explained to children” is a series of engravings—or rather measurements of space or 'planes of the universe'. They are a way of constructing a concrete image that leaves aside its symbolic meaning—for example, curves no longer represent an arcade—to become the present of a constructed space. However, rather than abandoning its symbolic meaning, what happens is that the unit of measurement, which coincides in principle with the tool to measure—which is one and the same for all measurements — is materialized through engraving in multiple instances. In this way, whereas before only the measuring object was seen and not the utensil, now the utensil is seen in the engraving as a universe, like a cosmos of signifiers.
