(about my current research)
For my PhD I am working on an aesthetic theory of desire. The idea is that desire lives at low resolution, in the gap between what is anticipated and what arrives. It asks what happens to wanting when that gap is closed, above all by technologies that predict what we want before we feel it. It works through five ways desire has been thought (pleasure, lack, prediction, production, narrative and language), each tested on an archive and with a view on the Global South.
